umasudo — Overview
UMASUDO weaves sound and text into intimate landscapes of memory and emotion. Beginning in 2014, fragments of words from films, media, and private writings became melodies, forming stories she could sing.
Searching for a name that would evoke all women, a journey to India made “Uma” the only possible choice. Later to become UMASUDO with the addition of a character name, forming a name that looked and sounded as distinct as the music itself.
Her first EP, Uma (2014), emerged from collaboration with musicians from São Paulo, while her second and third EPs, Little Birds, Little Liars (2019) and Landscapes (2021), finished now and ready for release, explore new tunings, textures, and the play of sound in space. UMASUDO invites listeners to move through intuition, memory, and melody, an evolving journey of sonic possibility.
